A sensory journey that brings body, mind and skin together in a single ritual. Inspired by ancestral Asian traditions, this ritual begins with a Thai back massage focused on relieving tension, continues with a deeply relaxing full-body massage, and ends with Kobido facial massage to revitalise the skin and restore its radiance. A complete experience of lightness, inner balance and total renewal.

What makes this ritual special, according to Inês
For Inês Pinto, Spa Manager at Mandalay Spa Royal Óbidos, the defining quality of Mandalay Spa The Journey lies in the progression of the ritual. The experience begins with more focused work on the back, develops into a deeper and more enveloping body massage, and finishes with a Kobido facial. This sequence allows the body to slow down before the face receives care, making the final moment more sensory, present and harmonious.
Recommended for anyone who…
- Is looking for a more complete experience than a traditional body massage.
- Feels tension in the back and wants care focused on that area.
- Values the combination of physical relaxation and facial care.
- Wants to leave with a feeling of lightness, serenity and a more radiant face.
Inês Pinto’s perspective
I like to present Mandalay Spa The Journey as a ritual with three very distinct stages. Before beginning, I try to understand how the person arrives: whether they carry tension in the back, physical tiredness, a sense of overload or signs of fatigue on the face. This listening helps me adjust the pace of the treatment and respect each client’s starting point.
The first stage, with a Thai back massage, has a more focused intention. I work on this area with attention to accumulated tension, always using adaptable pressure and without forcing the body. The relaxing massage on the rest of the body then allows the experience to slow down. The touch becomes more enveloping, deep and continuous so that the person can feel a genuine transition between releasing tension and entering a calmer state.
The ritual finishes with Kobido on the face, which I consider a very special moment. After the body has received care, the face gains presence: we work on radiance, freshness and vitality through precise and fluid movements.
What makes this experience different is its sequence. It is not an isolated massage or a facial simply added at the end. It is a journey designed to guide the person, step by step, towards lightness, inner balance and renewal.
